Step one

Build your knowledge base

Everything your team needs to know, in one place. Upload it, paste a video link, or type it — Lore handles the rest.

  • Upload documents — PDFs, Word docs, and plain text files. Lore extracts the content automatically, including multi-column layouts and formatted tables.
  • Type directly — Use the Lore editor to write procedures, policies, or FAQs directly in the app. No formatting required — headings and bullet points help Lore organise the content, but plain paragraphs work just as well.
  • Paste a video link — Drop in a YouTube, Vimeo, or Loom URL. Lore transcribes the audio and indexes the content so staff can ask about anything covered in the video.
  • Processing is automatic — Once uploaded, Lore reads, chunks, and indexes the content. Most documents are searchable within 30 seconds.
  • Update any time — Edit or replace any source from your knowledge base. Changes take effect immediately.

Start with what you already have

Most businesses have procedures scattered across email threads, shared drives, and people’s heads. You don’t need everything perfect before going live — start with your top five FAQs. Add more as staff ask questions you haven’t covered yet.

Accepted formats

  • PDF documents
  • Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Plain text files
  • Video links (YouTube, Vimeo, Loom…)
  • Type directly in the editor
Documents ready in ~30 s · video links in 1–3 min

Step two

Share with your team

Your Lore assistant lives at its own URL — with a QR code ready to print. No app, no accounts, nothing for your team to install.

  • Your own URL — your bot lives at chat.asklore.com.au/yourbusiness. Memorable, bookmarkable, and shareable in seconds.
  • Printable QR code — download a print-ready QR code from your settings. Stick it on the noticeboard, the fridge, the register, or wherever your team congregates.
  • No app to install— Lore works in any mobile browser. Your staff don’t need to download anything or create an account.
  • PIN protection — optionally set a 6-digit PIN to restrict access to your team. Staff enter it once and Lore remembers them on that device.
  • Works anywhere — on a phone at the stockroom, on a tablet at the front desk, or on a desktop in the back office. Any screen size, any device.

Step three

Staff get instant, accurate answers

Staff ask in plain language — the same way they'd text a colleague. Lore reads your procedures and replies with a specific, accurate answer.

  • Plain language questions— no keywords, no special syntax. “What do I do if the till is short?” works just as well as “cash discrepancy procedure.”
  • Answers from your playbook, not the internet— Lore only draws from the documents and procedures you’ve uploaded. It will never invent an answer or pull from outside your knowledge base.
  • Source citations included — every answer shows which document it came from. Staff can tap the source to read the original procedure if they want more context.
  • Feedback loop — staff can rate every answer with thumbs up or down. Negative ratings prompt for a reason. You see this in your dashboard.
  • Conversation context — Lore remembers the context within a conversation, so staff can ask follow-up questions naturally.

What if Lore doesn’t know the answer?

Lore tells staff honestly when it can’t find a relevant answer in the knowledge base — it never makes something up. The unanswered question is logged in your Gaps feed so you know exactly what to add next.

Good questions.

How accurate are Lore's answers?

Lore only draws from the documents and procedures you've uploaded — it won't fabricate information or pull from outside your knowledge base. Accuracy depends on how clearly your procedures are written. Lore works best with specific, step-by-step content; it struggles if your documents are vague or contradictory. The Gaps feed and feedback ratings help you identify and fix weak spots over time.

Do my staff need to create accounts or log in?

No. Staff access Lore by visiting your bot's URL or scanning the QR code — that's it. If you've enabled PIN protection, they enter the PIN once and Lore remembers them on that device. No accounts, no passwords, no app to install.

What file types can I upload?

PDFs and Microsoft Word documents (.docx) are supported, along with plain text. Scanned PDFs (image-based) are processed with OCR. You can also paste a video link (YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, and more) — Lore transcribes the audio automatically. The Lore editor lets you type procedures directly if you don't have existing documents.

How long does it take to set up?

Most businesses are live within an afternoon. Upload your top five to ten procedures, share the QR code with your team, and Lore is ready. You don't need everything documented upfront — the Gaps feed will tell you what to add as staff ask questions you haven't covered.

Can I control what staff can and can't ask?

Lore only knows what's in your knowledge base. Staff can ask anything in plain language, but Lore will only answer from the content you've uploaded. If a question isn't covered, Lore says so honestly and logs it as a gap for you to review.

Is my business data kept private?

Yes. Your knowledge base is strictly isolated from other customers' data. It's only used to answer your staff's questions — not to train AI models, not shared with other businesses. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
